Rat and Bird

Rat and Bird

Caught these two interacting on an island and thought it would make some good shooting. I was right, took about twenty photos, and the lighting was pretty good.

Extreme Extreme Close Up

Extreme Extreme Close Up

This heron would not budge. The closer I got to it the slower I walked. I wanted to catch it taking flight so I could get a good wingspan photo. It stayed right there as I snapped photo after photo.

I used to have a real camera. One with a 300 mm lens and all the bells and whistles and filters aplenty. Then I was forced to sell it due to a financial crunch. And it is days like today – when I shot this photo – when I think about how much I miss having a real camera. I hope to someday own one again. The camera I currently shoot with is quite basic and has no bells or whistles, so I am always happy to get anything with it. This photo was shot with that camera, across the Susquehanna River in Owego, NY. It is quite a distance, considering that I was shooting without a tripod once again and pushing my camera beyond its limit. I wish Canon would sponsor me and send me a nice model so I could set the Nikon aside. But, thats life. This was as good as I could do today.

10 Heron and 3 Deer

10 Heron and 3 Deer

There are at least 10 blue heron and 3 whitetail deer in this photo. Some of the heron are airborne, though most are on land. I made this a panorama to focus on the wildlife.
